A new beginning, I'd like to help!
Hello there! I am very interested in using the grounds for my 2019 Fall & styled Christmas Mini photography sessions this year. Would I possibly be able to use the land as well as the outside of the house for any of the following dates: October 13th - 9:30am -3p.m. October 20th - 9:30am -3p.m. October 26th - 9:30am -1p.m. November 9th - 9:30am -3p.m. Lastyear we ended up using the 1803 House and that worked out wonderfully. I'd be happy to provide you with some photos of what I have captured in the past. My studio is right on Main St in Emmaus. Thank you for any information you may have regarding this location being used for photo session opportunities. Kindest regards, Alyssa Andrew www.alyssaandrew.com e: email@example.com

Hello, I am a descendent of Sebastian Knauss. My grandfather, born in 1893 told me of the original homestead but I never imagined it still existed. May I visit?

I know this is random, but I was doing the classic "google your name" and saw there is a "Knauss" homestead web page. Being in the field of Historic Preservation based in Texas I was stunned to see your website. I noticed that you are on the National Registry. Do you know your national registry #? Also, do you have HABS drawings? (History American Building Survey)

I am from the Emmaus Garden Club. Two years ago we planted a tree there in memory of a deceased member. We would like to plant a tree in memory of another member and wonder if you will agree to that. We would like to plant it close to Arbor Day at the end of April. Please call me so that we can discuss. Thank you.

Hello -- I'm doing research to help someone with their DAR application through John Conrad Knauss the son of Gottfried Knauss. They were from Whitehall and Emmaus and I'm trying to find out where I might find more information or documents that could help me. Anything is appreciated! Thanks, Marlene Bayer

Hello, My name is Brook Graves and I am currently a 5th-grade teacher at Seven Generations Charter school. We are interested in visiting the Knauss Homestead because we are doing research on why people settled in Emmaus and investigating the natural resources that made people want to live here. Please let me know the process for setting up a tour of the Knauss Homestead. Thanks for your time, Brook Graves 5th Grade Teacher Seven Generations Charter School

Hello, I came to this site because I was researching my lineage. My maiden name is Elizabeth Knauss. I was wondering if you are open to visitors. I am not sure that my lineage is tied directly to the people who inhabited this house, but it would be neat to discover more either way. How much are the river cruise raffle tickets and where does the cruise sail to? It would be neat to give as a present to my parents. Thanks, Elizabeth

Please send any monthly info about events so I can include it in the monthly column I compile for the East Penn Press. My deadline is the third Wednesday of the month. Next deadline is Aug. 15. Are you still holding monthly open house in August? Corrine

Hello, What are the hours for visiting? I am very interested in the homestead. I am a descendent. My mother and father were there before the work was completed. My grandmother is a descendent, as she was a Knauss before she married. I have vacation in mid Aug. and would love to see it. Thank you.

I will be traveling to Emmaus in May with my mother and aunt who are from the Knauss family. We would like to visit the Knauss Homestead while we are there. Can you please contact me with options. We will be there the week of May 13th. Thank you.

Hi, We are planning a trip that way the first week of June this year. In doing my ancestry I’ve found that Sebastian is my 5th G Grandfather, we are very interested in coming to see the Homestead and to visit burial spots to pay our respects. If you could let us know when you will be open that would be fantastic. Thanks so much, Julie Criswell

1896 Quilt donation
My Aunt wants to donate a quilt that was a wedding present to my Great, Great Grandfather Daniel Knauss, 1896. Please let me know if you have any interest in the quilt or if you could refer me to someone, I would appreciate that as well. Susan Smith 218-378-7994 Daniel Webster Knauss, born 11/8/1871,Catasauqua, died 1/3/1954 Elizabeth Thomas, born 6/27/1977,Fullerton, died 12/10/1970 Married October 15th 1896 in the presence of Rev. James A. Little, Hokendaugua. The quilt was made as a wedding present for Elizabeth, likely made by her sisters-in-law; Laura L. Knauss, 1860 - 1925, and Mary Ida Knauss, 1868. The quilt was in daily use all her life and came to my aunt upon her death. The quilt was shown to education groups to high acclaim. Any help/links would be appreciated. Touring the house
Hello, We are planning a trip this summer to your beautiful area and would love to be able to tour the Knauss Family Homestead, which I have just found out is part of my family :) Sebastian was my Great x 5 Grandfather. Not really knowing anything about my family history and all of a sudden being introduced to this wonderful Knauss family has been a pure joy for me. Their story is amazing and I am looking forward to visiting your area and of course The Homestead. I will contact you as we get the dates set, it will more likely be in June 2018. This will be part of a vacation we are taking our Grandsons on, that's their Christmas present now that they are older. I was wondering if you have any type of pamphlet about the Homestead that I could include with their present this year. We are making this a "Trace our Family Roots" vacation, I'm very excited about it. Thanks so much for your time. Looking forward to hearing from you. Julie

Seven Generations Charter School Tour
Good Afternoon, I am a 5th grade teacher at Seven Generations Charter school and we are currently working in our trimester one unit named Seven Generations Ago. It focuses on the Emmaus community and how the colonists chose to settle here. We look at the natural resources that were available and learn about the history of the town. I was wondering if you are able to give a tour of the homestead or if you know of anyone that would be able to speak with my kids about the history of the Knauss Homestead. Thanks, Brook Graves 5th grade Teacher Seven Generations Charter School

9/28/17 @ 2:30 EHS Class of 1962 is dedicating 2 bricks in the Remembrance Garden. A class member asked me if there was a chance the house would be open for a tour. I explained to them about Heritage Sunday on the 24th but they requested me to inquire if small tours on short notice were ever available? Thanks to all of you for your dedication to keeping the heritage of Emmaus alive, active and available for all to see and enjoy. Donna P Barto

Hi, I have a picture of my uncle Ted Knauss as a child. I know that you have a small print of this picture, but I have an oval picture in an antique frame, probably equal to an 8X10. Would you be interested in having this picture? Thanks, Deb Witmer

Hi Linda thanks for the Information. You need to change the date that Thelma an Angela died it is 8-14- 1980 not 69. Janice was a McNaughton not a Knauss, it should read Waldo McNaughton than Janice McNaughton than the 4 knauss kids. Thank you very much Bill Knauss

To whom it may concern: I had visited in the fall on a suggestion by Jim Baker but noone was around. I am interested in an inside look at the homestead and may have items to donate to help furnish it. Please contact me to arrange a mutually convenient time. Linda Moyer
